Body Polish is a sugar scrub because salt scrubs sting any skin that has been recently used, which in this catalogue is most skin. Cane sugar in jojoba oil, coarse enough to feel like weather, dissolving in warm water so the last minute of the scrub is oil alone — you finish polished and oiled in one step, no lotion after.

The amber jar is 250 g, which is six or seven full-body scrubs, and the scent is the jojoba, which is to say none. Everything we said about fragrance in the bath chapter applies here twice over: this product is used on skin that this catalogue's other products have just been used on, and adding perfume to that sequence is how a brand loses the plot.

Why this piece exists

Body Polish is coarse on purpose and dissolves on purpose, and the two decisions are the same decision: a salt scrub stings skin that has just been used, and a fine scrub does nothing. Sugar in oil starts coarse and becomes an oil massage by the end of the minute — the exfoliation fades out as the water dissolves the grain, so the last circles are the treatment and the first ones were the work.

The jojoba base is the same oil as Dusk Stone, which is deliberate: a scrub that ends oiled means no post-shower lotion, which means one fewer product, which is the entire philosophy of this chapter stated in a jar. The amber glass is there because sugar in oil in sunlight is a jar that will separate, and the amber slows that down too.

Who it suits

  • Pre-bath or pre-shower exfoliation in the oil-product households
  • Elbows, knees, shoulders — the weather-beaten map
  • People who hate post-scrub lotion as a step

Who it does not suit

  • The face — body-grade grain, and we mean it
  • Freshly shaved or broken skin; sugar scratches both

Use and care

Everything we know about keeping it.

Use

On warm, wet skin, a spoonful worked in circles from the ankles up. Rinse. The sugar dissolves by the end; the oil stays.

Not for

Broken or freshly shaved skin — sugar scratches both. And not for the face; the grain is body-grade.

Storage

Water in the jar starts the sugar dissolving on the shelf, so keep the lid on between the scoop and the shower. If it crystallises, it is still good: stir and use.

Long-term

Sugar and water is the only chemistry in the jar, which makes storage the whole discipline: keep the lid on between the scoop and the shower, because steam starts dissolving the top layer into a crust that is still good but no longer pretty. If it crystallises — sugar re-forming — stir it back with a spoon and carry on; the product does not spoil, it just changes shape. Twelve months is the oil's clock, not the sugar's.

Material safety. Platinum-cured silicone, phthalate-free, non-porous. Clean with warm water and mild unscented soap or a silicone-safe cleanser; avoid alcohol and silicone-based lubricants, which dull a matte finish and can leave a film. Full detail in the materials guide.

About this piece

Can I use it before Dusk Stone?
That is the intended sequence — scrub, rinse, and the oil that remains in your skin from the polish means you need fewer drops of the stone. Skip nothing, add nothing.
Why sugar not salt?
Salt stings anything recently shaved or grazed, and in this catalogue that is most skin most evenings. Sugar is gentler and dissolves — salt would need rinsing twice.
