Linen Spray took eighteen formulations to pass the same test the candle did: scent at the edge of perception, in a mist, on fabric. The base is the same cold-pressed rose absolute at 0.4% with a clear alcohol carrier that evaporates faster than it can wet the fabric — a fine mist that lands, does its work, and is gone by morning.

It is the accessory for people who bought the candle and wanted the room version. We resisted making it for a year because fabric sprays are the category where restraint goes to die, and then we found the carrier that let us keep the restraint, and here we are. One product, one scent, one concentration. We will not be doing a range.

Why this piece exists

Linen Spray took eighteen formulations because fabric sprays are where restraint goes to die: the category standard is 3–5% fragrance in a carrier that wets the fabric, and the result announces itself for hours. Ours is the Winter Rose absolute at the same 0.4% in an alcohol carrier that evaporates faster than it can soak — the mist lands, does its work on the air near the fabric, and is gone by morning.

We resisted the product for a year. The argument that won: customers were already spraying diluted candle-adjacent things on pillows, and the category default is worse than anything we would make. One product, one scent, one concentration — the listing says we will not be doing a range, and the listing means it.

Who it suits

  • Winter Rose households wanting the room version
  • Pillow and duvet-edge people, ten minutes before bed
  • Guest rooms — the restraint reads as hospitality, not as perfume

Who it does not suit

  • Silk garments without a hem test, leather, finished wood in spray range
  • Anyone who wants to smell the spray an hour later; it is gone, deliberately

Use and care

Everything we know about keeping it.

Use

Two or three sprays at arm's length onto pillow or duvet edge, ten minutes before bed. Do not saturate — more mist is a wetter pillow, not a calmer room.

Not for

Silk garments (test a hem), leather, or finished wood within spray range — the carrier is alcohol and wood finishes remember.

Storage

Out of sunlight with the nozzle locked. The glass frosts up fine; the nozzle seal is the first thing to dry if it sits uncapped.

Long-term

The carrier is alcohol, so the failure modes are evaporation and nozzle seal: store it upright, out of sunlight, with the nozzle locked, and the 18-month shelf is comfortable. The frosted glass shows the level; when it is gone, the bottle is a good reed-diffuser vessel, which is the reuse the glass was chosen for. If the mist ever streams instead of sprays, the nozzle has dried — warm water through it for ten seconds, and it remembers.

Material safety. Platinum-cured silicone, phthalate-free, non-porous. Clean with warm water and mild unscented soap or a silicone-safe cleanser; avoid alcohol and silicone-based lubricants, which dull a matte finish and can leave a film. Full detail in the materials guide.

About this piece

Is it the same scent as the candle?
The same absolute at the same 0.4%, in a different carrier — on fabric it reads as the candle's first ten minutes, held there. Matching was the entire R&D brief.
Will it stain?
Cotton, linen and most synthetics pass our stain test at arm's length. Silk hems and leather should be tested, and finished wood should stand outside the spray arc — the carrier is alcohol and wood remembers.
