Lumen solves a travel problem: in a dark hotel room, every other device's controls are invisible. A thin amber ring around the tip glows at the intensity you set — dim at low, bright at high — and nothing else on the body lights up. You find it, set it, and turn the ring's brightness off entirely with a long press.
At 86 grams and 110 millimetres it is the smallest, lightest piece we sell, and the only one that ships with a travel pouch instead of a sleeve. The motor is tuned for quiet at low settings; it is not a Nocturne, but it will not embarrass a thin hotel wall either.
Why this piece exists
Lumen's light ring was a failed feature from another product. We were prototyping a charge indicator for Gilded Arc and the amber ring was too bright, and someone in the studio said 'that is not a bug, that is a torch', and put it in a drawer. Two years later a customer email asked for a travel piece 'you can find in the dark', and the drawer opened.
The aluminium body came from the same logic: hotels are cold, metal warms fast in a hand, and a 86-gram object with no thermal mass gets out of its pouch already at skin temperature. It is the only piece in the range that is not matte black silicone, and the anodising is the same hard coat we use on the rose-gold tips.

Before the first use
Peel the tip cap seal, charge fully, and long-press the button to see the light ring's three modes.
Cleaning
The aluminium body wipes clean; the silicone tip cap rinses. Do not submerge — the USB-C port is sealed against splashes only.
Storage
It ships in a drawstring pouch that fits the cable too. Keep the port cap pushed fully closed in transit.
Long-term
The port cap is the part that ages: its seal softens after a couple of hundred opens, so keep it closed when not charging and replace the cap seal (we stock them) if you travel monthly. The anodised body does not fade; the ring's LED dims over years, which you will never notice because it happens slowly. Battery: small cell, small lifespan — expect two years of weekend travel before capacity halves.
Material safety. Platinum-cured silicone, phthalate-free, non-porous. Clean with warm water and mild unscented soap or a silicone-safe cleanser; avoid alcohol and silicone-based lubricants, which dull a matte finish and can leave a film. Full detail in the materials guide.
