The Silk Eye Mask began as a Threshold sample run — we ordered two blindfold prototypes and the factory sent one with a shaped nose relief by mistake. Everyone who tried it in the studio kept it. The mask is that mistake, finished properly: the same mulberry silk, the same seam that blocks light without pressing on the eyes, and a shaped nose bridge that the blindfold's flat seam lacks.
It is the only piece in the catalogue with no relationship to the catalogue's purpose, and we are fine with that. Sleep is the other half of intimate wellness, and a customer who buys the candle and the salts eventually asks what the black silk thing in the product photos is.
Why this piece exists
The Silk Eye Mask is a factory mistake we finished properly. A Threshold blindfold sample arrived with a shaped nose relief — the pattern cutter had improvised — and within a week everyone in the studio had taken one home. The mistake was the product: the nose bridge is what turns a silk rectangle into a light seal, and a flat blindfold cannot do it.
It is the only piece in the catalogue with no relationship to the catalogue, and the honest note in the listing says so. Sleep is the other half of intimate wellness; the customer who bought the candle eventually asks about the black silk thing in the photos, and now the answer is a product rather than an apology.

Use and care

Use
Adjust the slider so the strap is snug, not tight — the seal comes from the nose bridge, not from head compression.
Not for
Machine washing, ever. Silk plus an agitator is how a 22-momme mask becomes a 12-momme rag in one cycle.
Storage
Flat in its pouch or flat in a drawer. The silk creases, and the creases fall out overnight on a flat surface.
Long-term
Silk's aging is gentle and legible: the sheen softens, the black deepens slightly with skin oils, and the fill stays lofted if you never crush it in a bag. Hand wash cool with silk detergent monthly, roll in a towel to blot, dry flat. The strap's elastic is the first part to tire — the slider means you can shorten past the slack for a year before replacing the mask, and by then the mask has earned it.
Material safety. Platinum-cured silicone, phthalate-free, non-porous. Clean with warm water and mild unscented soap or a silicone-safe cleanser; avoid alcohol and silicone-based lubricants, which dull a matte finish and can leave a film. Full detail in the materials guide.
