Threshold is the kit we recommend to couples who say 'we want to try something' and go quiet. It contains almost nothing: a silk blindfold that blocks light without pressure, and two wide cuffs lined in the same silk, closing with quiet hooks rather than buckles. The absence of hardware is the product — nothing here clicks, locks or looks like it came from a different, louder shop.

Why this piece exists
Threshold is the set we designed by deciding what would not be in it. No buckles — buckles pinch and click. No locks — a lock is a promise about an experience that this kit is not making. No red or black lacquer — charcoal silk, because the aesthetic of this catalogue does not change register when the lights go down. What remains is silk, hooks under covers, and a box that explains itself in one line.

We wrote it with a sex educator, we paid her byline rate, and the card is the reason this set can be given as a gift without either party needing a manual.

Use and care

Before the first use
Iron nothing. The silk arrives pressed; the creases from boxing fall out in a night on a flat surface.
Cleaning
Hand wash cool with silk detergent, roll in a towel to blot, dry flat away from sun. Never wring — silk remembers twisting.
Storage
Back in the box, folds loose. Keep the hooks closed so they do not catch the blindfold in the drawer.
Long-term
Silk is the longevity story and the discipline: hand wash cool, dry flat, and the set will soften rather than wear — the silk develops a hand-feel that new silk does not have, which is the opposite of most products' aging. The covered hooks are the only hardware: check them yearly for thread wear at the covers, which is the one repair the kit ever needs. Store the cuffs hooked closed so they do not catch the blindfold's seam in the drawer.
Material safety. Platinum-cured silicone, phthalate-free, non-porous. Clean with warm water and mild unscented soap or a silicone-safe cleanser; avoid alcohol and silicone-based lubricants, which dull a matte finish and can leave a film. Full detail in the materials guide.
